(Shelton, Conn./CBS Connecticut) – A serious crash in Shelton shut down a portion of Route 8  Thursday morning.

State Police say a little after 10:00 this morning, two vehicles were involved in a collision on the northbound side of the highway between exits 11 and 12.

A southbound  vehicle  crossed the median into the northbound lanes , striking the front end of a vehicle traveling north. The previously southbound vehicle, driven by 51 year old Guy Lochard of  Bridgeport then went down an embankment, seriously injuring him.  He was taken to Bridgeport Hospital.

The driver of the other vehicle, 47 year old Ketty Mancero of Stratford  suffered minor injuries  and was  taken to Bridgeport Hospital.  Her passenger, 48 year old  Elizabeth Cellini of Trumbull, suffered serious injuries, and was transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center.

The crash remains under investigation.
