(NEW HAVEN,Conn./CBS Connecticut) – The body of a man was pulled from the Quinnipiac River east of the Grand Avenue Bridge in New Haven Tuesday afternoon. The discovery was made around 1 o’clock.
Police say the man is white , believed to be in his fifties.He has gray hair, a brown moustache and beard and a scar on his sternum,likely from surgery some time ago. He was wearing camouflage pants, an olive drab jacket, a solid green t-shirt, gray and brown Starter brand sneakers and gray hospital-style socks.
There is no indication how he ended up in the water. Detectives are treating the death as a potential crime.
Police believe they know who the man is, but are nonetheless looking into recent missing persons reports.
