(CBS Connecticut) — Christmas midnight mass at Hartford’s Cathedral of Saint Joseph is generally celebrated by the head of the archdiocese.  But this year,  the Rector of the Cathedral, Monsignor John McCarthy,  told those in attendance and those listening on WTIC’s broadcast of the service that Archbishop Leonard Blair was feeling ill.

He said the Archbishop began feeling “under the weather”   after the evening vigil mass,  but sent his best wishes and prayers,   and hoped to be back in a day or two.
