FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP) – Fairfield police are asking the public for help in efforts to find a man accused of sexually assaulting a Sacred Heart University student at an off-campus home.

The woman told police that she was attacked at about 3 a.m. Monday at a house she shares with roommates, who weren’t home at the time.

Authorities say the woman described the suspect as a short and stocky man in his 20s who is between 5-foot-2 and 5-foot-6.

She said he spoke with a Spanish accent and has acne on his face, light-colored eyes and dark, spiky hair.

Police say it doesn’t appear the suspect knew the victim.

Sacred Heart officials say they’re offering counseling and support to the woman and her family.

Anyone with information is urged to call Fairfield police.
