BOSTON (CBS) – Bill Belichick and his New England Patriots are now 1-2 on the season after their 31-30 loss to the Ravens, and the head coach may also be a little lighter in the wallet soon.

Following Justin Tucker’s game-winning kick for the Ravens — a kick that appeared to go over the upright as time expired — Belichick sought out an official to discuss if the kick was indeed good.

As the replacement referees ran off the field, Belichick grabbed one as he passed by. He did not stop to have a discussion, and the NFL is now looking into the situation.

A source has told NFL Network’s Steve Wyche the league is only looking at a possible fine, not a suspension, for Belichick.

Leftover Thoughts: Belichick’s Reaction Toward Refs Just Human

When asked during his postgame press conference, Belichick said he didn’t think he would be fined by the league.

The Patriots head coach had little to say of the officials and did not want to discuss the postgame interaction on the field.

“I’m not going to comment on that. You saw the game,” Belichick said.

“It’s our job just to go out there and control what we can control,” added Belichick. “You’ll have to talk to the officials about the way they called the game, talk to the league about it, I don’t know.”

The NFL made a point to warn teams about their actions towards the replacement officials this week. Denver Broncos head coach John Fox and defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio will reportedly be fined $20,000 for publicly criticizing the replacement refs last week.

There were 24 accepted penalties during the game for 218 yards. New England was flagged for 10 penalties for 83 yards.
