FAIRFIELD, Conn.(AP) — Sacred Heart will open its NCAA tournament in Chapel Hill, N.C. against Georgia Tech.

The Pioneers (25-7), who beat Monmouth on Sunday to win their second Northeast Conference tournament in the last four years, received a 13 seed Monday in the Des Moines region.

Sacred Heart is led by Callan Taylor, the NEC Player of the Year, who is averaging over 16 points and almost 10 rebounds per game.

The Pioneers or Yellow Jackets (24-8) will get either Georgetown or Fresno State in the second round.

This is Sacred Heart’s third appearance in the tournament. They lost in the first round in both 2006 and 2009.

Coach Ed Swanson says he’s bringing two suits with him this season, after bringing just one set of clothes in 2009.
