MIDDLEFIELD, Conn. (AP) _ A teacher who was facing a sexual assault charges has been found dead in a Connecticut lake.
State police say the body of 23-year-old Jeffrey Francis of Durham was pulled from Lake Beseck in Middletown on Friday afternoon. He had been reported missing by his family on Thursday.
Francis was arrested by Wallingford police on Wednesday and charged with second-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor.
He had been in his first year as a special education teacher at the Interdistrict School for the Arts and Communication in New London. He was placed on administrative leave following his arrest.
Police say there appears to be no “criminal aspect” to his death. His body was taken to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy.
