Bridgeport police say seven people who identified themselves as Greenpeace members are charged with trespassing at a coal-fired power plant.

Police say they were arrested Thursday morning after riding their Zodiac watercraft to the Bridgeport Harbor Generating Station and hanging a large sign reading, “Shut it Down _ Quit Coal.”

The Coast Guard joined police at the scene, where the seven people were charged with criminal trespass and reckless endangerment. They will be arraigned Friday in Bridgeport.

It was unclear if they had attorneys.

They were identified as 23-year-old Aliyah Field and 27-year-old John Davis, both of Washington, D.C.; 25-year-old Lauren Thorpe, 22-year-old Chandler McGaw and 24-year-old Hope Kaye, all of San Francisco; 25-year-old Daniel Holmes of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and 26-year-old Arthur Simmons of Vashon, Wash.
