The end of Summer adds the beautiful foliage of Fall and in Connecticut their are some wonderful parks, and rivers to visit where you can take in the beautiful scenes and Fall colors. This list will guide you to the Top Spots for Autumn Colors, views and over all great sites to take in the Fall season in Connecticut.

Located in between the great cities of North Haven and Wallingford Wharton Brook is the perfect place to witness the change in seasons from Summer to Fall.  The park is located on wooded, sandy knolls with an abundance of trees, full of leaves just waiting to change colors and provide that beautiful Fall foilage. It’s the perfect place to take a nice peaceful and quiet walk or squeeze in a picnic with friends and family.  Wharton is also the perfect location for photographers to snap some beautiful shots of the autumn colors.

Sleeping Giant is a family favorite for Greater New Haven area residents.  The park is known for its beautiful nature trails for hiking and bike riding.  It’s open area provides for a nice scenic view especially when Autumn comes around.  The view is amazing for taking in those beautiful Fall colors.  A walk up to the Stone Observation Tower gives a gorgeous view of Long Island Sound and of the entire city.

East Rock Park, located in a neutral location in between New Haven and Hamden, is a commonly known park for sight seeing, family cook outs in the Summer, and is also a premiere location for 4th of July fireworks. But when the season changes from Summer to Fall, East Rock becomes the place to enjoy the Fall colors and foliage. It’s naturalistic landscaping provides great views of the city, and is surrounded by trees, and hiking trails.

If you prefer to capture the Fall colors by boat then sailing the Mystic River is ideal. The river separates the towns of Mystic, Groton and Stonington.  Sailing along this river is a pleasant and peaceful sail allowing for those enjoying the sail to also take in the beautiful Autumn scene offered in this great area of Connecticut.

Another great park to check out the beautiful Fall colors is West Rock Ridge Park located between Hamden and New Haven. The park offers wonderful scenic areas and views. Park goers frequent this park for hiking, biking and horse back riding. You can take in the views of New Haven Harbor and Long Island Sound from the top of West Rock and spot all the beautiful colors of Fall.
