Day trips are always fun, especially when you don’t have to travel too far to experience a great time.  All types of exciting events and shows are happening either right here in Connecticut or just a couple states over.  This list provides with ideas for day trips from Connecticut.

Only a couple hours drive north is the great state of Massachusetts. With tons of museums, beaches, shopping restaurants and history, Massachusetts is one of several choices Connecticut residents can consider when planning a day trip.  A visit to Cape Cod to check out a few of their beaches is great idea for the entire family.  Or for a more relaxing visit, spending the day at the ever so popular Martha’s Vineyard could be ideal.  A quick hop on the ferry will bring you straight to this location.

A train, bus, or car ride heading south and just one state away is “The City That Never Sleeps.”  After one visit to the state known for the bright lights, restaurants, great shopping and tons of shows, another return day trip may be in the plans. Time Square offers so much to see and is a huge attraction for “out of towners” and locals.  Experience shopping at some of the local boutiques and flagship chain stores in addition to some of the best jewelry stores.  And there will never be a problem finding a place to dine.  Times Square is flooded with restaurants, with everything from your local mom and pop spots to your chain restaurants like T.G.I Friday’s and Juniors.  And this day trip can last way into the wee hours of the next morning if you choose.  After all, this is the city that never sleeps.

Looking for something fun and adventurous to do with the entire family that’s not too far from home? A couple hours drive up I-91 North will lead you to tons of thrills and excitement at Six Flags New England and Hurricane Harbor. The park is packed full of water rides, roller coasters, food and live entertainment. And if you’re bringing the little ones along, they will be thrilled to see their favorite cartoon or animated character, like Bugs Bunny or Tweety Bird walking around the park as well.

Sometimes the best day trips are the ones that take place right in your own backyard.  The excitement of live music, great food, bright lights and casino fun are all available right here in Connecticut at Foxwoods Resort Casino.  Pending on which part of the state you’d driving in from, Foxwoods is only a couple hours drive and will pack your day with a lot of excitement and things to see and do, such as one of their many concerts or live shows. But, since most of these concerts usually happen at night, you have the whole day to explore before the show.  You could make reservations for a round of golf at the Lake of Isles’ North Course.  Or enjoy the casino itself for comedy shows, restaurants and more.
