Monday Morning Quarterback Week 15
Cincinnati BengalsPhiladelphia Eagles
The quarterback play in this game was not impressive. Even though the Bengals won by three touchdowns, Andy Dalton threw for just 127 yards. On the positive side, he did throw 1 TD pass and he also ran for a score.
Nick Foles had to perform against a hungry defense that is playing for its postseason life, but he was not up to the task. He completed less than 50 percent of his passes, threw an interception and also lost a fumble.
Atlanta FalconsNew York Giants
In a season of outstanding performances, Matt Ryan was at his best against the Giants. He completed 23-of-28 passes for 270 yards with 3 TDs and he did not throw an interception.
The Falcons played nasty defense and that kept Eli Manning from finding his rhythm. He never felt comfortable and he threw for 161 yards with two troubling interceptions.
Denver BroncosBaltimore Ravens
Peyton Manning continues to play with confidence. Going into a hostile environment could have been an issue for anyone else, but Manning calmly took apart the Ravens’ defense by avoiding mistakes. He threw for 204 yards and a touchdown.
Joe Flacco did not get it done. His statistics were not bad, but he didn’t make enough big plays and was inaccurate when he needed to put the ball on the money. He completed only 20-of-40 passes and that’s not good enough against a good team.
Green Bay PackersChicago Bears
Another game against the Bears and another win for Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. Rodgers methodically threw for 291 yards with 3 touchdown passes to James Jones and he did not throw an interception.
Jay Cutler needed to have his best game in this key divisional game. However, the Bears did little after a solid opening drive. Cutler threw for just 135 yards and his second-quarter interception gave the Packers control of the game.
Washington RedskinsCleveland Browns
The Redskins were forced to go with backup quarterback Kirk Cousins in this important game and the backup quarterback threw for 329 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was very confident and gave fellow rookie RGIII a much-needed week off to rest his sore knee.
Brandon Weeden had an opportunity to get the Browns a key win, but he was unable to take advantage. Weeden threw for 244 yards, but his 2 interceptions hurt the Browns badly.
Houston TexansIndianapolis Colts
The Texans had a great bounce-back game after their poor showing against the Patriots in Week 14. Matt Schaub led the team calmly and efficiently, throwing for 261 yards and a touchdown. Colts quarterback Andrew Luck did not throw any interceptions.
The Colts have come up big in end-of-game situations, but they couldn’t finish the job despite staying close to the 12-2 Texans. Luck played with his usual swagger, but the Colts were not able to follow his lead.
Miami DolphinsJacksonville Jaguars
After struggling to put a good offensive game together in the first half, it all came together for Ryan Tannehill in the second half. He was quite sharp, completing 22-of-28 passes for 220 yards with 2 touchdowns and no interceptions.
Chad Henne has had some success since being inserted into the lineup by the Jaguars, but he couldn’t finish any of his drives or lead the team into the end zone. Henne completed 18-of-34 passes for 221 yards.
New Orleans SaintsTampa Bay Buccaneers
It has been a difficult season for the Saints, but it all came together in this end-of-season home game against the Bucs. Drew Brees was back in form, completing 26-of-39 passes for 307 yards with 4 TDs and no interceptions.
Josh Freeman has been solid for the Bucs for most of the season, but there wasn’t much left in the tank against the Saints. He threw for 279 yards, but he had 4 interceptions.
Minnesota VikingsSt. Louis Rams
Christian Ponder did not do much, but he did not make any big mistakes for the Vikings. He threw for 131 yards and did not throw an interception. Sam Bradford threw for 377 yards and 3 touchdowns after the Rams were forced into a comeback mode.
Ponder did not make any mistakes, but it’s clear that he is not a quarterback who can make plays down the field and win games with his arm.
Arizona CardinalsDetroit Lions
The Cardinals found a way to end their nine-game losing streak, but quarterback Ryan Lindley only threw for 104 yards in the process. He did not throw a TD pass, but he only threw 1 interception.
Matthew Stafford should have been able to have a big game against the Cardinals, but it was just a poor all-around effort by the Lions. Stafford could not throw a touchdown pass and he threw 3 interceptions.
Seattle SeahawksBuffalo Bills
The Seahawks topped the 50-point mark for the second game in a row. Rookie quarterback Russell Wilson threw for 205 yards and 1 touchdown and he also ran for 92 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Ryan Fitzpatrick always leaves everything he has on the field, but he is not a strong enough quarterback to bring his team back from a sizable deficit. Fitzpatrick threw for 217 yards and a touchdown, but he threw 2 interceptions.
Carolina PanthersSan Diego Chargers
The Panthers have not done much that has gone right this season, but they did not let a West Coast trip bother them as they took apart the disappointing Chargers. Cam Newton showed off his passing skills, throwing for 233 yards and 2 touchdowns. He did not throw an interception.
Philip Rivers struggled to make plays as his team appeared to be completely out of it from start to finish. He threw for only 121 yards.
Dallas CowboysPittsburgh Steelers
Tony Romo did everything he could to keep his team in the game. He completed 30-of-42 passes for 341 yards with 2 touchdowns and he did not throw an interception. He stepped up and played another tough game against the best defense in the league.
Ben Roethlisberger had a solid game as he threw for 339 yards and 2 touchdowns, but he threw an interception in overtime that set the Cowboys up for the win.
Oakland RaidersKansas City Chiefs
This was not a good NFL game by any stretch, but quarterback Carson Palmer did just enough to get the Raiders a rare win. He threw for 182 yards and he did not throw an interception.
Brady Quinn is playing with as much effort as he can muster, but it’s not enough to help his team compete. He threw for 136 yards and an interception as the Chiefs got blanked.
San Francisco 49ersNew England Patriots
Possibly the best game of the season to this point. Colin Kaepernick and Tom Brady were spectacular in poor weather conditions. Kaepernick threw for 216 yards and 4 touchdowns and he only threw 1 interception. Tom Brady and the Patriots fell behind early, but they rallied from a 28-point deficit to tie the game in the fourth quarter. Brady threw for more than 300 yards in the second half and 443 yards in the game.
After the Patriots tied the game with 6:43 to go in the fourth quarter, the 49ers scored two plays later. Brady was unable to rally the Pats from another deficit.
