Harry A. Gampel Pavilion

Since opening in January of 1990, Harry A. Gampel Pavilion has served as one of the premier college basketball gymnasiums across the country. To date, it’s seen four men’s national champion basketball teams take the floor and nine on the women’s side. A campus landmark, the infamous domed ceiling towers more than 130 feet in the air from ground level and measures 320 feet in diameter. It seats 10,167, but at times, the electricity feels like hundreds of thousands.

Just recently, state-of-the-art score/videoboards were installed on both end-zones. Aside from the midnight madness and national championship celebration parties, Gampel is used as an intramural facility, varsity sport facility for women’s volleyball and as a main concert venue for a variety of artists. Here’s more on the University of Connecticut’s ‘bubble.’
