MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) – A freight train derailed Thursday morning just north of the Arrigoni Bridge in Middletown.

There were no injuries reported and no hazardous materials were involved, said Mayor Daniel Drew.

Drew says it appears that roughly eight cars went off the tracks, as the Providence and Worcester Railroad train was apparently backing up to add additional cars.

It was unclear how long it might take to remove the cars from the scene.
