Man Gets 20 Years In Prison For Fatally Beating Father Of 5

NEW LONDON, Conn. (CBS Connecticut and AP) – A man who pleaded guilty to fatally beating a father of five from the Eastern Pequot Tribal Nation more than 11 years ago has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.

The Day reports that 33-year-old Christopher Vincenti was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to first-degree manslaughter.

Prosecutors say Vincenti and his co-defendant Timothy Johnson robbed 40-year-old Anthony Hamlin for drug money, beat the man to death and left his body in a field in Ledyard in January 2006.

The two men were arrested in 2016. Johnson has pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter, and he faces 19 1/2 years in prison.

Vincenti apologized to Hamlin’s family during the sentencing, saying he regrets he didn’t come forward 10 years ago.
