DEEP RIVER, Conn. (CBS Connecticut & AP) – Connecticut police say an SUV drove off the road, rolled over and landed upside-down in a brook, killing the driver.
The crash happened Saturday afternoon in Deep River, a town of about 4,600 in southeastern Connecticut.
Police say a Chevrolet Tahoe driven by 33-year-old Jennifer Homan, of Bristol, crossed into the other lane, rolled and went down an embankment into a brook. They say the SUV landed on its roof in several feet of water.
At least four ambulances and drivers in wet suits were asked to assist.
Police say Homan was pulled from the vehicle by members of the fire department and taken to a hospital, where she died of her injuries. She had been wearing a seat belt.
The crash is under investigation.
