Lieberman: Trump Rise Inevitable

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) – Former Democratic presidential and vice presidential candidate and Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman says he’s not surprised by the rise of Donald Trump.

Lieberman is now an independent and supports Democrat Hillary Clinton for president.

He tells WVIT-TV the political system has failed to deliver, making people angry at Washington. He says it was inevitable an outsider would come along.

Lieberman now lives in New York and has been active in the group No Labels, which works to bridge the divide among Republicans, Democrats and independents.

He says whoever wins will have a hard time finding common ground with the other party, but says it can be done.

Lieberman was Democrat Al Gore’s running mate in 2000 and ran for president in 2004.

He retired in 2013.

A very interesting comment from a man who was not known for compromise when he was in the Senate. Here’s wishing him luck in working with the “No Labels” organizetion.
