Advocates Celebrate Expansion Of Medical Marijuana Law

HARTFORD, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) – Doctors, parents, and children’s advocates joined Governor Dannel Malloy Thursday at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford for a ceremonial bill signing for the law that expands the state’s medical marijuana program to cover children with certain debilitating illnesses, such as epilepsy.

The law took effect at the beginning of the month. Advocates say the law gives kids with serious medical issues more options for treatment and pain management.

“The idea that we would go so far with development of opioids and would at the same time ignore the possibility of cannabis really makes no sense,” said Malloy.
