Drunk Driving Charge Follows Head On Collision

(CLINTON,Conn./CBS Connecticut) –  A Guilford man has been arrested following a  2  vehicle head on collision  at Central Avenue and High Street in Clinton.Police say  46 year old Daniel O’Brien had crossed the center line and appeared to be  highly intoxicated.There were 2  children, ages 2 years and 7 months in the vehicle at the time of the crash, but  appeared uninjured.They were taken to a hospital for evaluation and reunited with their mother, who was not involved in the crash.The  Department of Children and Families was notified.

An open container believed to be liquor was found in the center console cup holder and a partially consumed  bottle of liquor was found in the  drivers seat.

O’Brien  has been charged with Driving While Intoxicated, 2 counts of  Risk of Injury to a Minor  and  Failure to Drive in the Established Lane.

O’Brien is being held on $10,000 bond for a Friday appearance in Middlesex Superior Court.
