Armed Man Shot By Stratford Police

STRATFORD, Conn. (AP) – Connecticut State Police say an armed man shot by Stratford police fired at least one round at officers first.

Trooper Kelly Grant says town officers responded to a waterfront section of town known as Lordship at about 4:45 a.m. Wednesday for reports of a man with a
gun.

Officers found the man and ordered him to drop the weapon. Grant says the man advanced toward officers and fired at least one round. At least one Stratford officer returned fire and struck the man.

The suspect was given first aid at the scene before being taken to Bridgeport Hospital. His condition was not disclosed.

No names were released.

No additional information was made public.

State police are investigating.
