(Newington, Conn./CBS Connecticut) – Police in Newington are investigating an attempted armed robbery this morning at a town motel.

Around 3:00 a.m., police were called to the Siesta Motel on the Berlin Turnpike.

According to police, a male and female were approached by a suspect who then attempted to force the male victim into the room.

The victim resisted, afterwhich police say the suspect showed a handgun in the waistband of his pants and demanded a duffle bag the male victim was carrying before fleeing on foot.

The suspect is described as a black male, between 6-feet and 6-foot-2, with a slender build, medium length braided hair, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and gray pants.
