(Niantic, Conn./CBS Connecticut) – The state Board of Pardons and Paroles has voted for early release from prison for Panna Krom.
She’s the Danbury woman who drowned her newborn baby in a toilet nearly ten years ago, when she was 17.
Krom told the panel this morning that “I now know how irresponsible actions can result in dire consequences, a notion that my 17-year-old mentality could not accept”.
During this morning’s proceedings, Krom said she learned to be honest with herself and her love ones, giving her family credit for meeting “immense challenges”.
Prosecutors argued against early release, saying Krom’s 18-year sentence was in line with similar crimes.
She’s due to be released at the end of the month.
