(Hamden, Conn./CBS Connecticut) – Hamden police have a man in custody and have taken nearly $13,000 of heroin off the streets.
The incident occured Saturday night around 9 p.m. when officers spotted a vehicle driven by 56-year-old Victor Dewindt on Morse Street, traveling at a high rate of speed.
Police say in addition to speeding, the headlights and taillights on Dewindt’s car weren’t illuminated.

Police say Dewindt initially stopped on Prospect Street but then threw the car in reverse, hitting a police cruiser in the process.
When arrested, Dewindt had nearly $10,000 on him, police said.
The New Haven man is facing a host of drug and motor vehicle offenses. Bond was set at $150,000.
