(Danbury, Conn./CBS Connecticut) – Three people are dead following a crash this morning in Danbury.
According to Mayor Mark Boughton, the crash on Mill Plain Road was the result of a pursuit that began in New York State.
Boughton says around 4:30 this morning, the car with five occupants was headed back to Connecticut when a New York State sheriff attempted to pull the vehicle over.
The mayor says the sheriff broke off the pursuit before entering Connecticut but the suspect vehicle continued on at a high rate of speed.
In addition to the three dead, two others in the car were injured.
Boughton says the vehicle had Connecticut plates and was apparently being pursued for a traffic violation in New York.
