(Hartford, Conn./CBS Connecticut) – A number state swimming areas have been closed until further notice due to high bacteria counts in the water.

Silver Sands State Park in Milford, which closed yesterday, remains closed to swimmers today.  The state’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection has also closed Gardner Lake State Park in Salem, Indian Well State Park in Shelton, Kettletown State Park in Southbury, and Wharton Brook State Park in Wallingford.
