Hebrew Healthcare Entering Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

(CBS Connecticut) — Hebrew Healthcare is entering Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

The nonprofit’s hospital for seniors, senior day care center, physician services, dementia care and the senior living community will be restructured.

The organization’s nursing facility in West Hartford will be operated by an affiliate of a national health care organization under a 30-year lease.

In a statement, Hebrew Healthcare said it will maintain the current level of service to all residents and patients.

Hebrew Healthcare says it has faced numerous challenges dealing with reimbursement reductions, regulatory issues, capital project needs and the dramatically changing face of senior care in recent years.

Staff is expected to remain the same, and Hebrew Healthcare says the new operators of the skilled nursing facility will observe Jewish dietary laws.
