New Haven Man Suffers Fatal Stabbing

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) _ Police are investigating an apparent homicide in New Haven.
Police said they went to a first floor apartment at 195 Saltonstall Avenue at 5:36 a.m. Sunday after a caller reported someone inside had been stabbed and needed emergency medical assistance.
The victim was identified by police as 50-year-old James Edward Foley.
Foley was rushed to Yale New Haven Hospital where he died about five hours later. Foley lived on State Street in New Haven.
Investigators said they are following up on what they described as “several significant leads.” They declined to offer additional information on those leads.
Police said they are confident there is no related threat to the public and that Foley was likely targeted by his killer.
