Vernon Explosion Probe Continues

(Vernon, Conn./CBS Connecticut) – Vernon police provided an update this morning on a house explosion in town yesterday.

Local, state and federal investigators remain at the scene of the blast.

Four victims were pulled from the rubble of the house at 4 East Street.

Police Lieutenant William Meirer says as for the victims still hospitalized, everyone is expected to survive.

The most seriously injured is a 7-year-old in Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.

Names of the victims have not yet been released.

Meirer says firefighters and first responders braved dangerous conditions, including further collapse of the structure.

He added they have a broad investigation in front of them to determine the exact cause of the blast.
