Old House Badly Damaged By Fire

(CBS Connecticut) – A very old house was badly damaged by fire in Thomaston this afternoon.

According to town property records, the house at 350 Hill Road was built in 1775.

The fire was called in at 3:29 as a basement fire, but the flames spread.

Firefighters say there was a problem with a hydrant in the area, and tankers had to be called in from surrounding towns to help bring water to the burning house.

Mutual aid came from Harwinton, Terryville, and Northfield.

There were no immediate reports of any injuries.
