Police Arrest Suspect In New Haven Shooting

(New Haven, Conn./CBS Connecticut) – New Haven police have made an arrest in an early morning shooting from Monday.

They say the victim, James Turner, was able to provide them with additional information that led to the arrest.

According to police, Turner told them the incident occurred when the 17-year-old suspect showed up at Turner’s apartment at the Farnham Court Housing Complex.

Turner, noticing the teen was packing a gun in his waistband, told the suspect to unload the weapon.

Appearing to be high on drugs, Turner says the suspect initially became aggravated lunged at him with a knife.

Turner then gave the gun back to the suspect, after which police say he was shot in the hand and abdomen.

The suspect’s mother later took him to the hospital because he was under the influence.

That’s where police say the found the suspect and charged him with assault, reckless endangerment, and carrying a pistol without a permit.
