Settlement In East Haven Discrimination Civil Suit

EAST HAVEN, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) _ East Haven’s Board of Police Commissioners in a unanimous vote Tuesday night approved a $450,000 settlement concerning civil rights violations committed by police.

The New Haven Register reports the deal was agreed to Monday by the town and plaintiffs in the case and was then voted on Tuesday night.

This settlement comes after four East Haven were federally charged with discriminating against Latinos.

The suit was put on hold while the officers cases were pending; but all of those charged have now been through the court process and the civil suit was able to proceed.
