Huskies Recognized At White House

(CBS Connecticut) — The UConn men’s and women’s basketball teams visited the White House Monday,  to celebrate their highly successful seasons.

The President joked that it’s unusual for the same school to win both Division 1 national championships, “As president, one of my goals has been to eliminate waste and cut out duplicative programs to make things a little more efficient. But this may be carrying things a little too far.”

The men’s team beat Kentucky for a national title.  The women’s team completed an undefeated season by defeating Notre Dame in the championship game.

The photo-taking ceremony was interrupted briefly when women’s team center Stefanie Dolson, who now plays for the Washington Mystics, fell off a riser. (See photos)
