WATERBURY, Conn. (AP) _ Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and other Connecticut officials are expected to announce state funding for several major transportation projects throughout the state.
The Democrat has scheduled a news conference on Tuesday morning at a commuter parking lot off I-84 in Waterbury. The funding will cover upgrades and renovations to highways, bridges and rail. The specific projects are expected to be announced.
U.S. Sens. Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy, U.S. Rep. Elizabeth Esty, Waterbury Mayor Neil O’Leary, state lawmakers, and Department of Transportation Commissioner James Redeker (REHD’-eh-kur) are expected to be on hand for the announcement. Also, representatives from labor groups and the Connecticut Business and Industry Association are scheduled to be on hand.
Malloy recently announced he is seeking a second term in office.
