Dog Attacks Woman In Branford

(Branford, Conn./CBS Connecticut) – A woman in Branford sustained serious injuries after she was attacked by a dog Sunday afternoon.

The 93-year-old was walking along an area of Habor Street and McKinnel Court when the pit-bull mixed breed burst from it’s owners house and attacked the victim.

Captain Geoff Morgan of the Branford police department says several neighbors came to the woman’s aid to pull the dog away, fending it off with the woman’s cane and a bat.

Morgan says the victim underwent surgery for serious trauma to her leg.

The dog will remain in quarantine pending the outcome of the investigation.
