RHAM Teacher Hit By Vehicle Dies

HEBRON, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) – A RHAM Middle School teacher who was hit and critically injured by a vehicle outside her school two weeks ago has died.

Family members of Dawn Mallory, 65, of Groton posted a message online announcing her passing and thanked members of the community for their support.

“After a valiant struggle, Mom has succumbed to her injuries. Your unwavering prayers and overwhelming support has helped us throughout this most difficult time,” said Mallory’s family in a post on their webpage. “Our deepest thanks to you all.”

Police say a parent dropping off their child at RHAM Middle School in Hebron backed into Mallory in the school’s parking lot on March 14th. Mallory suffered a fractured skull and bleeding in her brain, and was in critical condition at Hartford Hospital.

School officials say they will review student drop-off procedures because of the accident, and charges could be filed against the operator of the vehicle that hit Mallory.

Grief counselors are expected to be available to students and staff on Monday.
