One Dead, One Critical in Bridgeport Domestic Dispute

(BRIDGEPORT,Conn./CBS Connecticut) — A woman died of stab wounds and a man was in critical  ,but stable condition in an apparent domestic homicide in Bridgeport Saturday night.

Police say they were called to an apartment on Palisade Avenue shortly after 10 p.m.,  and found the woman inside a bathroom, and the man in the living room.

The  victim was found in a bathroom of  the apartment in  the Bishop Curtis Housing Project.She was pronounced dead at the scene.

37 year old   Alejandro Velez was found   unresponsive by his sister who called police.He has now  been charged with murder and his  bond was set at $1,000,000.

Police say Velez has an extensive  criminal record, including arson,assault on an officer and other offenses.

This was the first homicide of 2014 in Bridgeport.
