(Hartford, Conn./CBS Connecticut) - Nearly 12,000 Connecticut taxpayers may have refunds due them from the IRS.

Spokeswoman Peggy Riley says half of those state taxpayers who didn’t file a 2010 federal return may have an average of $620 awaiting them.

Riley says there are a number of reasons why they didn’t file.

Chief among them, she says, is the taxpayer didn’t think they made enough that filing season to have to file.

But she says if there was withholding, chances are they may be due something.

The deadline to file a 2010 return is April 15.

Riley says the refunds total more than $10 million.

Those who have questions about filing or need tax forms can call the IRS or log on to the web site, http://www.irs.gov.
