FARMINGTON, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) _ Things are going as scheduled at the Jackson Labs project at the UConn Health Center in Farmington.
Gov. Dannel Malloy announced Monday that Jackson Labs has exceeded last year’s business goals and employment targets outlined in connection with the bio-science initiative.
They hired 16 more employees than the target of 63, they have 60 percent more Ph.D.-level senior scientists on staff (48) than the target of 19.
Maybe most importantly, the average annual wage for employees is more than one and a half times the average wage in Connecticut.
Jackson Labs was only committed to paying 125 percent of the state’s average wage.
Currently, the scientific payroll staff is operating in temporary lab space while construction is ongoing.
