HARTFORD (CBS Connecticut) — A North Carolina truck driver hauling bottled water suffered minor injuries in a spectacular accident in Vernon overnight.  It affected traffic into  early Friday afternoon

State Police say the truck, driven by Holden Lee Coston of Fayetteville, left the westbound side of the highway at exit 67,  hit the guardrail leading to the overpass and rolled off the bridge,  landing on an embankment below.

Route 31 was shut down because the truck pulled down electrical lines.

Diesel leaked from the truck’s fuel tanks.

Coston was taken to St. Francis Hospital for treatment.  He was cited for driving in an improper lane.
