Woman Found Dead In Waterbury Had Been Strangled

WATERBURY, Conn. (AP) _ The chief medical examiner’s office has determined that a woman found dead in her Waterbury home earlier this week was strangled.

The Republican-American reports that an autopsy on Thursday showed that 44-year-old Kacy Austin died from asphyxiation through compression of the neck. The medical examiner’s office ruled her death a homicide.

Police say they don’t have any suspects in custody and they’re asking the public for help.

Authorities say Austin’s 17-year-old son found her unresponsive in an upstairs bedroom in their home on Tuesday morning.

Police say there were no signs of a forced entry and no reports of any unusual noises coming from the home.

Austin worked for a nonprofit company that helps state prisoners transition into the community.
