Vigil Planned Eight-Year-Old Killing Of Father Of Five

NEW LONDON, Conn. (AP) _ Relatives and friends of an Eastern Pequot Tribe member whose 2006 killing remains unsolved are planning a vigil in New London to urge police to revive their investigation.

Forty-year-old Anthony Hamlin’s battered, naked body was found in a field in Ledyard on Jan. 28, 2006. The medical examiner’s office ruled the father of five died from blunt head trauma.

Family members told The Day of New London  that they’re planning a vigil for 1 p.m. Saturday in downtown New London, where Hamlin was last seen the night before his body was found. They want to call attention to the unsolved killing.

Relatives also are urging authorities to increase a $25,000 reward that was offered two years ago.

New London State’s Attorney Michael Regan says the investigation remains active.
