(CBS Connecticut) _ The flu is starting to really rear its ugly head in Connecticut.
State health officials yesterday reported more than 1,000 confirmed cases of the flu so far this winter season.
At Hartford Hospital Monday, the emergency room saw 376 patients, shattering a daily record that dates some 15 years. Not only is the flu prevalent, but ER doctors say they’re also seeing frequent cases of a gastrointestinal illness.
In the recent report, the number of confirmed cases in just one week jumped from less than 700 to now over 1,000.
