New Haven Police Respond To Gunfire, One Injured
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (CBS Connecticut/AP) - Police in New Haven say a 24-year-old man was shot after two nightclubs let out sometime after 1:30 Sunday morning in the city’s downtown entertainment district.
Investigators say Mandella Davis was hit once in his lower left leg outside the Exhibit X nightclub on Center Street. He was treated for a non-life threatening injury. He said he was shot while standing in a crowd outside the club.
An unidentified woman was also taken to the hospital, initially believed to be wounded by gunfire. Authorities determined the woman was not injured, but was having a panic attack.
No arrests have been made in this incident.
Police also say club goers fled on to Crown Street following reports of gunfire inside the nearby Lazy Lizard nightclub. It’s not clear if shots were fired inside the club, but several fights broke out on the street. Police say a man in front of a nearby hotel had a gun and was arrested.
