The University of Connecticut  has named Notre Dame defensive  coordinator Bob Diaco as  its next head football coach.

The 40 year old Diaco  takes over a Husky team that started 09-, but finished with 3  straight wins.

Diaco  won the 2012 Broyles Award   as the nation’s top assistant coach,the first Irish assistant  to capture  the award.

Diaco, who will be introduced Thursday,takes over  for interim coach T.J.Weist who  coached the team after Paul Pasqualoni was fired  4 games into his third season at Uconn.
