The man who shot and killed a gas station clerk at the EZ Mart on East Main Street in Meriden during an armed robbery in June of 2012 pleaded guilty Wednesday to murder and first-degree robbery.

According to court documents, the plea by Frankie Resto, 38, was not part of any deal.

He’ll be back in court Feb. 7 and could face as many as 80 years behind bars for the combined charges.

Killed in the shooting was 70-year-old store owner Ibrahim Ghazal.
