The Hartford teacher’s union along with members of Hartford’s City Council Minority Caucus and the Working Families Party have called on city officials for an investigation into a social media post made by Hartford school principal Doctor Steve Perry.

Members of the community and the Board of Education expressed their opposition to a proposed plan by Perry to privatize the S.A.N.D. Elementary School and Capital Preparatory Magnet School, and bring them under his management.

Perry tweeted, “The only way to lose a fight is to stop fighting. All this did was piss me off. It’s so on. Strap up, there will be head injuries.”

Group leaders say the tweet was directed toward those opposed to his plan.

The tweet was reportedly sent during school hours, said to be against school policy.

Perry is the principal of Capital Preparatory Magnet School in Hartford.
