NORWICH, Conn. (AP) _ Norwich authorities locked down the city police department and The Bulletin newspaper building for a couple of hours because of a potentially threatening letter.

The Bulletin reports  that the newspaper’s publisher, Chris Voccio, took the letter to the police department on Wednesday at about 11 a.m., about four hours after it was found at The Bulletin. The letter didn’t appear to contain any foreign substances.

The sender of the three-page, handwritten letter wrote that he has MRSA, or Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, and can’t get treatment. He also mentioned theories on how MRSA can be transmitted.

MRSA is a potentially deadly strain of staph infection that is resistant to antibiotics.

The lockdowns were lifted in the early afternoon and the letter was taken to a laboratory for testing.
