Dog Rescued From Fairfield Drain Pipe

Fairfield Fire Department crews rescued a dog that became stuck in a drainage pipe at a soccer field on Saturday.

Authorities say a Shepherd-Basset hound mix named “Shadow” meandered into the outflow portion of the cement pipe before 1pm, and became stuck 30 feet inside the pipe, at the catch basin.

Crews were unable to reach the dog on their first attempt and required a backhoe from the Fairfield Department of Public Works to aid in the rescue. Eventually, a fire fighter was able to lift the dog out of the catch basin.

One fighter fighter suffered a minor hand injury during the rescue.
