Fire Routs Meriden Apartment Building

Around two dozen residents have been displaced following an early morning fire in Meriden.

Fire Chief Ken Morgan says they got the call around four a.m. to a multi-building apartment complex on Meetinghouse Ridge.

Morgan says the fire got a good head start on them, adding that the it was advancing quickly upon arrival.

He says about 50 firefighters from the city and surrounding towns battled the blaze.

The chief says one firefighter sustained minor injuries.

The building where the fire broke out is uninhabitable and the Red Cross is assisting the displaced.

There’s no word yet on a cause.
