Milford Fire Victim Identified

MILFORD, Conn. (AP) – Milford officials have identified a man killed in a house fire.

Fire officials say 71-year-old Alex Szabados died in Tuesday afternoon’s fire on Summit Avenue.

Firefighters responded to several 911 calls about the fire shortly before 4:30 p.m.

When they arrived, neighbors were trying to put out the blaze with garden hoses.

Authorities found Szabados severely burned in a bathroom and tried to resuscitate him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

It’s not clear how the fire started. The Milford and state fire marshals’ offices are investigating.
