NORWICH, Conn. (AP) _ With no opposition on the ballot on Election Day, first selectmen in four towns in eastern Connecticut are guaranteed re-election.

The Bulletin reports (http://bit.ly/1eax4OI ) that the top officials in Franklin, Plainfield, Salem and Woodstock have no challengers in Tuesday’s municipal elections.

Don Kivela, head of Plainfield’s Republican Town Committee, said no one expressed interest in running for the town’s top job.
Woodstock First Selectman Allan Walker Jr. is running without opposition for the fourth time. He says it’s more because of voter satisfaction with local government than apathy.

He says someone will run if voters get angry enough.

Franklin First Selectman Richard Matters said it would be nice to have an election that gives voters a choice.
